Sensors
Homeowners call them the little eyes or sensors near the floor. Technicians call them photo eyes. When one light is off, blinking, or the door won't close, alignment, wiring, dirt, spider webs, or sunlight are the usual causes.
Blinking lights usually mean misalignment or a wiring fault. One sensor without a light can mean no power, a broken wire, or a failed eye. Gently realign so both lenses point at each other and check for pinched wires along the tracks.
Dust, webs, and slight vibration from a slamming door can throw alignment off even when the brackets “look” okay. Wipe lenses with a soft cloth and retighten loose brackets.
If sensors “keep getting blocked” with nothing in the path — especially midday — sun interference is likely. We can reposition or shield sensors so the door closes reliably all day.
